It's bright, clear and 24 degrees outside with a wind chill factor of 17. Perfect day for curling up with a good book by the fireside and a cup of tea, right?

Wrong.

I kicked Ryan outside during Kieran's nap and together we filled 4 - 32 gallon yard waste containers & tied up 4 - 4'x2'x2' bundles of branches so we'd be ready for the monthly winter yard waste collection later this week. We worked in half hour shifts before running inside to defrost, roughly to the point where we couldn't feel our noses or fingers anymore.

I love our house, but there are times when I really hate the fact we have almost a quarter acre of yard and such limited yard waste collection service in Seattle. To me, normal yard waste service is piling up everything possible on the curbside as high & wide as you'd like, then these cool little bulldozer-like vehicles with jaws would come along and scoop it all up. I didn't realize this was not the norm outside of Sacramento until I went to college, and didn't care until we moved here almost 5 years ago. It still makes me angsty.
