523 years was along the lines of what I was thinking as I found & added Kieran's 15th-great grandparents to our genealogy records tonight, but I found a 14th-great who is even older. It is completely insane how extensive my husband's side is mapped out (5,000 people, and this is an old record from my MIL in 1999 that has God knows how many more people now), but I shouldn't be surprised with the church connections.

Being able to trace someone back to 1481 1408 blows my mind though. My goal for my own family is to try and trace them back as far as when they came to the US, which is being difficult enough in the 1700s for me. 84 years before Columbus went nosing around and caused quite a ruckus, there was some commoner named John Brown who led to my son and probably thousands of others with the name John Brown running around today. Weird.
