Out of all the lines from Flight From Death last night, this one has stuck with me the most.

As one of the producers discussed last night, it is impossible to summarize this film in a short discussion. It also wasn't what I thought it would be. It'll be released on DVD either late this summer or early fall, check it out from a library when you're in the mood to be a bit disturbed and challenged on your perception of what culture, tolerance and diversity mean, and if social death is worse than actual death. Another disturbing thing is that the film was started 6 months before 9/11, but one of the cameramen was on the first plane that hit WTC. I have to wonder what direction Flight From Death would have taken if 9/11 had not happened and someone so personally involved was not killed as a result of it.

This interview offers a glimpse of the heart of the film, we saw footage of some of the experiments he talks about & they were both amusing and spooky. The interviewee could be my anthropology professor's brother, they are uncannily similar in mannerism & mindset and a lot of the material the film covered from the cultural anthropology side felt familiar to me as a result of my classes.

Much to ponder.
