Meteorology 300: Weather as Warfare

From weather.com, "Bitterly cold air will launch a full-scale invasion of the U. S. tomorrow, beginning with the Pacific Northwest."

In other news, my husband's car decided to break last night shortly after I wrote about getting an espresso machine. Oh well... I like classy ghetto mochas (1 pump Ghirardelli, 2 cups coffee, dash of milk) just fine so I'll bide my time until we no longer have preschool tuition to pay in September. A dark secret of mine is back in the mid 90s when I was in the San Francisco corporate rat race, I made ghetto mochas all the time since hot cocoa mix & Peet's were free at each company I worked for!

Activating the family emergency broadcast system again

My mom was wise and got a cell phone plan that actually works from her house in the boonies, just in time for Windstorm II! This one has blown a 20' branch off one of her trees (thankfully it missed the house) and her power & landline are once again history. Email alerts to her sisters in California and Colorado have been sent and I remain in 'please stand by' mode for an all clear.

I should probably run out and get my alcohol and start experimenting with my mocha proportions now, I have a feeling I'm going to need them.

This concludes the emergency broadcast

As luck would have it, the phone rang at the same time I came back in the house with my mocha fixings announcing an all clear from mom. Between repeated windstorms and blizzards since mid-December, I've had more than enough concerned relatives weather drama and I think my family has too.

First round mocha is pretty good, underestimated one ingredient that will be fixed with hte next. ++++ Ghirardelli white chocolate powder sample + dark syrup, in the past I used Hershey's Good Night Hugs & Ghirardelli sweet cocoa powder and the difference is incredible.
