The sacrifices of parenthood
All mothers need to have at least one mantra of, 'When you were young, I gave up so much for you like...' to hold over their kids' heads.
Mine will be, "When I went to a social for your preschool instead of the last night of my autumn quarter class in college where we could drink beer (yes, on campus in the classroom even though it's illegal) and watch Pimps Up, Hos Down."
Yes, I honestly would rather be at my last class. However, I already committed to the mandatory social (I notified my prof back in Oct that I'd miss class) and know that not going to it would be a blow for networking and playdates in addition to being a weasel.
Maybe when Kieran's in college, I'll make him miss class some night to talk about my Anthropology class and make him watch that tape with me as payback.
