I got all the deck planters done yesterday, hopefully can tackle the rest of the pansies & mums tonight. We somehow lost a few hours of daylight overnight, or at least the memory of gardening at 9:30pm seems very recent compared to complete darkness at 8pm now.

In other roots, I've poked around the CA death records and gotten more information there than ancestry.com queries. Whenever I get frustrated about not making much progress, I remind myself that since late June I've found the full names of all 16 of my great-great grandparents. I've also found at least partial names of 18 (out of 32) 3x great-grandparents with some branches much further back than that. This is all from free access information online and the help of kind distant family members & sometimes completely unrelated strangers ranging from California to eastern Canada.

Not bad in that context, I'm sure without the internet that much would have taken me years and it's been really fun to swap information and pictures with people. I'm sending out a few snail mail notes to more distant family around the PNW & am keeping my fingers crossed.
