twilight33I just got off the phone with a 98 year old woman (1st cousin 3 times removed) who remembers my great-great grandfather as 'Uncle Johnny'.
She grew up in the same small town the other branch of my family that I just found is from, not far from where I grew up. She has lived in a small town on the Olympic Peninsula for 38 years, in miles about the same distance as our hometowns are in California.
Needless to say, we will take a little trip over to the inlaws' place on the Olympic Peninsula soon. I'll leave Kieran & my husband there while I head over to her house with a tape recorder, family tree printouts, photo albums of this branch (maybe a few of the other branch too, the families had to have known each other) and we'll have ourselves quite a talk. She sounds like she's in great health, so I'm hopeful that this Christmas we can come as a family to say hi to her & her family too.
She gave me tidbits of stories already that I had no clue about; I can hardly wait to learn more.
