thus said the dr. this morning after the second attempt to anesthetize my gouged left finger didn't exactly go well. i ended up w/4-5 stitches and felt the last 2. on the plus side, i saved kieran from certain injury. the wind caught our gate, which i then caught w/what i hoped to be my hand and instead was this finger. i don't remember if the gate actually slammed shut on it or if it was the metal or wood that sliced it, but it's very nasty, deep and right across the joint.

may you never know the joy of sending yourself into shock in order to keep from screaming and freaking out your child in addition to figuring out how not to bleed all over him, his car seat and the entire car. not typing much here for a while, obviously.
