2/3 of a year down
Feb. 25th, 2003 03:30 pmI cannot believe Kieran is 8 months old today. Then again, some days I look back on pregnancy pictures and can't believe that was really me with him in my belly either.
The other day Kieran figured out within 15 minutes a unique ear-piercing noise I can make that no one else has been able to imitate exactly; I am so proud. For those who haven't heard the noise, it's something of a cross between a shrill whistle & a cricket, and I can't explain exactly how I do it. It's great for calling someone's attention across a far distance or to make conversation stop though. He's still not really crawling besides the army crawl, but he's figuring out more complex things like stacking & unstacking toys as well as the fact that he needs both something hard in his hand & the colorful side of the xylophone up to make interesting noises.
We've been teaching him a few basic signs (milk, eat, more & all done) and he's starting to sign back 'milk' as we give him a bottle. If we say 'milk?' and make the sign with no bottle in sight, he opens & closes his mouth like a fish if he's hungry. This is exactly what he does just before we feed him, so I think he's starting to figure it out. It is nothing short of amazing to watch his development, and the articles from Talaris on brain development have been extremely helpful.
