Looking back on Kieran's eating/sleeping habits the past few weeks (which have been utter crap), we've decided to try a complete overhaul of them to see if they'll both improve.

That meant dropping the 11pm feeding and keeping our fingers crossed that he wouldn't wake up hungry & pissed off at 2 am... and he didn't! Slept pretty much straight through from 8:30 pm until 4:15 am. Still insanely early, but that's almost 8 whole hours of sleep. Such a thing hasn't occurred in this household since Kieran joined it, and I'm thrilled.

Still too early to say how eating will go today, but there are some promising signs that it won't be such a battle.

Yet another trip to the doctor today. Within an hour and a half of getting to work, Ryan called and said he noticed Kieran's left eyelid getting a weird red blotch & swelling up. The nurse didn't like the sound of that and got him an appointment 20 minutes from the time Ryan called! Thankfully, the medical center is a block from my office so as Ryan drove over I walked over to see what was going on.

It's early to tell for certain, but he might have something called periorbital cellulitis. The dr. did a culture on it, for which Kieran remained calm and relatively still for. This was much to everyone's surprise considering his eye was being attacked by a large Q-Tip. If the redness or swelling travel past the eyelid we're to call in pronto, even if it's after hours, because it can apparently turn nasty rather fast.

On the plus side, Kieran's cold is almost completely gone and he's eating like a horse. Guess if it's not one thing, it's the other?
