Today didn't turn out as planned. First, Ryan scared me half to death when he unlocked the door and came in at 9:30 this morning when he should have been at work. My immediate thought was 'Oh shit. He's been canned.' but it turns out that he's ill with some death flu out of nowhere. He wasn't any better by the time I was supposed to be in the office, so I took Kieran to work with me for what I hoped would be a half hour to wrap up loose ends.
He was so well behaved & calm in his stroller that I was able to stretch that half hour into an hour and fifteen minutes. I left then because I was starting to get bored since I didn't exactly have any work to do in the first place. Most of the time was spent visiting with coworkers who wanted to see Kieran, and there was even cake in the conference room to celebrate some milestone. I can use my sick leave since this is considered an 'emergency childcare situation', and Kieran's sacked out for another nap now.
I feel like I'm being paid to play hooky, except everyone knows about the situation and it's perfectly justified. Granted, I wish Ryan felt better, but this is being fun for me!
