Big in Japan
Aug. 17th, 2003 02:05 pmThings are finally winding down this quarter, finals are Wednesday and online is the last place I should be right now.. but eh. I never was good at focused studying for hours.
We successfully sawed down our first hedge plant yesterday. These aren't puny little things either, easily over 12' tall with a trunk width of about a foot that even slowed down a brand new 3hp chainsaw in the thickest part. I wish I had thought of this strategy a few years ago so we'd be done by now instead of just beginning. Oh well.
I also waged a final battle on the blackberry bushes in the front yard and painted some horribly toxic crap on the ends to kill the buggers off. There's still the huge bramble that routinely grows into our backyard from our neighbors dilapidated shed (my mom says we should call the city and report it as a fire hazard, I'm tempted to if there was some way to make certain they wouldn't know it was us who reported them) though, and I'm not sure if anything can kill that off.
One day we will triumph over our yard, but not anytime soon.
