Death and disaster

Another death, 2 year old toddler in an unfenced backyard pool. I've given up trying to understand anymore, and somehow I link Carter USM with everything including 9/11. Go figure.
This news led to a semi-argument for Ryan & I about swimming lessons for Kieran in the future. Ryan, he of no body fat, sinks like a stone & hated the ones he had. I loved mine & can't wait to share the same fun with Kieran. Granted, Ryan is overprotective since he lost a baby cousin in a drowning accident, but I lost a friend to one in Sacramento as well. Nik's life in a partial coma before he died in his early 20s has made me vigilant about fenced (and locked) backyard pools, although thankfully outdoor pools in Seattle are nonexistent from what I've seen.
We shall see. In the meantime, Kieran starts toddler preschool on Monday and the orientation for parents is tonight so that should be interesting. I can't believe my baby is already starting school!
