Not only did I finish my paper without a last minute rush, I also managed to write my class presentation summary. Evil coincidence had both the paper & my class presentation occur last night, but I managed not to run screaming. The presentation went much better than I expected, with both the prof & the class participating in a discussion without boredom or being argumentive... and somehow I managed to naturally facilitate & follow up on their replies with more questions. Considering I rarely speak in class because I'm usually dead tired, nor is public speaking/moderating discussions part of my job, this really surprised me.
I need to follow up on a few things with the prof through email though. My presentation was about how individual concepts of 'home' affect the perception of both the characters in the book & ourselves. He guessed my family's career heritage instantly based on the fact that I was the 3rd-5th generation born in CA and my family's reaction to my news that I was leaving for WA. This floored me. I doubt anyone else besides Ryan knows what that is (despite appearances, it is not professional consumption of white cake), so I have to know how he deduced that.
TGIF. Today I move into my new office at work (couldn't achieve ideal chi with my chair facing the door, but at least improved it with a perpendicular angle instead of back facing the door which is uber-bad), and I'm praying it goes smoothly. We're not allowed to touch our own PCs or phones, and half the time with UW moves these things turn into total disasters. We shall see what awaits me...
