I have been going berserk this week with the lack of sufficient gardening time due to continual rain & crunch time for class. I snuck out this morning for an hour, and would have stayed out there once it started raining (again) had it not been for the fact that I have to have some semblance of appearing professional at work.

I found some pictures I took of the rock garden when we bought the house 5 years ago and the difference between then and now is frightening. It was never a showpiece before because of the damned weeds, but visual proof of how much trees, ivy & vinca has grown is rather impressive.

My only goals for the holiday weekend are to finish my powerpoint presentation for class (learning from the mistakes my classmates made with theirs last night) and the rock garden renovation, even if I end up looking like a drowned rat from more rain.

Drowned rat? Check.

I was happily drenched and minding my own business tonight in the yard until Ryan opened the window and hollered at me to quit getting soaked & come help him because the knob on the washing machine broke. Bad design for the knob, it put a lot of stress on a piece of plastic, but with some minor surgery we managed to extract the broken part still stuck on the machine then turn the remaining screw with pliers to finish a final rinse cycle. This was not a good thing to have happen with a load of cloth diapers inside.

My guess is about 2-3 hours and I am done with the rock garden renovation. I can't wait.
