Poor noggin
Nov. 27th, 2004 04:22 pmWe had a wonderful Thanksgiving until Kieran really miffed it while running around my mom's table this morning and bonked his head not once, but twice on the way down. Of course he cried, but not as much as we feared he would after such a nasty fall. He has a scratch and two large red bumps on his lower forehead that are probably going to be there for a while, but was happily faceplanting in a beanbag within an hour so there's no permanent damage.
We cooked the turkey in beer this year since my mom is watching sodium due to high blood pressure concerns (we've been brining for years). It made for an excellent bird, but the gravy tasted very wrong. Maybe wine next year? 3 adults & a preschooler managed to down 2 deep dish pumpkin pies in the span of 2.5 days. Oy. No... more... pie...
Off to Walgreen's to make some old family photo copies for my newfound cousins in California. I am so thankful this year for reconnecting with two family branches that have been lost to us for generations, yet been so eager to welcome me with open arms and love. My own close family ancestors may be gone, but I'm understanding more about who they were & where they came from by connecting with kin.
