Skip that last chapter?
May. 2nd, 2003 02:50 pmI learned from my former coworker in SF that the branch of the Japanese trade company we used to work for is closing. I'm sad for my former coworkers who are still there and being laid off, although one of them is happy about moving on after being there 12 years.
That was the last job I had before moving to Seattle and working for UW, and I didn't even have it for all that long. Now that I've been working here for 5 years & am finally on track to earn my degrees, it just dawned on me that I could probably drop all reference to ever going to school or working in California from my resume and no one would even notice.
This feels very, very strange... like I can really wipe the slate clean from a chapter of my life that felt like one colossal failure after another.
Even though I'm not looking to move on from my current job for a while, I might rewrite my resume this weekend anyway. I suspect it will be extremely cathartic.
