Kieran's homework assignment tonight:

Help a grown-up in the kitchen by helping make dinner. You can pour, mix, measure, roll, etc.

Uh huh, right. Tuesdays are my packed day with regular job plus even longer internship hours; those nights consist of straight from freezer/fridge to microwave. Tonight's example was leftovers from KFC.

So now I can blame Kieran's teacher for making us have to bake brownies tonight, which took care of pouring, mixing & measuring in the kitchen. Oh the humanity. Dessert is part of dinner, right?

The assignment had to be done TONIGHT? That in my mind was unrealistic and unfair. Brownies in my opinion are just fine - yes, dessert is part of dinner! In my opinion, you went above and beyond.

Yep, they have assignments due each night except none on the weekends. This is the first clear indication that the teacher is a twentysomething out of grad school without kids at home to me. Dinner from scratch every night? HAH!

Even without kids, we don't have dinner from scratch everynight! Yipes! And wow....I don't remember having homework in kindergarten. In fact, I remember being really scared of going into 3rd grade, because that's when the real threat of homework started! :)

K = our 1st grade experience. Seriously. It's crazy but reality today, and I now understand why so many kids are on ADD drugs.

Kindergarten homework isn't too extensive (tonight's was finding a pattern & drawing it & he chose two: semi-circular roof tiles and mini-circles from a gift bag) but still. My parents never signed off every night on any homework I had & we already do now for Kieran.
