Sunday, my kitty died. Monday, our house flooded. Yesterday was pretty nice, considering we were still in shock.

Were we done?

Oh hell no.

MY LAPTOP IS HOSED!!

Yes, the one with alll my pictures and schoolwork.

My beloved blew a gasket.

I do not give a shit. Or I'm in denial. Both? There's some Alzheimer's drug ad showing receptors in the brain and sometimes things just go 'pop' between them. I'm fairly certain everything possible in my brain has already gone 'pop' so nothing is processing.

This event would certainly be enough to send me over the edge any other day considering I have finals due in a week... but I don't anymore, thanks to Monday and the reprieve from my advisor. Lucky me!

Our suspicion based on how it suddenly went berserk is the network card that has also partially hosed the motherboard. Safe mode is operational (data appears salvageable which is probably why I don't really care) and my beloved is trying out a few things from his own personal geek squad (aka WoW guild). Any other suggestions, we'd love to hear them.

An entire floor of wet carpet & padding is out of the house and in a dumpster. There is no way in hell we are EVER recarpeting down there; large area rugs and pads for us, thanks. Dehumidifiers and blowers are sucking electricity at alarming rates and emergency mode is over. There are some uncertain variables, such as if the wallboards are salvageable and if we will be in Texas next week.

'pop'. Does not compute.

Again, thank you all for support and help! We're probably in a holding pattern for a few days.

To me, that's even more justification for not worrying about your courses and assuming you can complete the work later and/or take the grade you've earned so far. I just assumed, reading "my laptop is hosed," that it was a flood victim too (perhaps indirectly), and I think most of your profs would assume the same.

Remember - this is all god/fate/the universe's way of making sure you have an interesting story about what you went through to graduate. One week to go. You'll make it, and then you can worry about the rest.

On the plus side....

Tori seems to be alive and well here, although I've only ever seen two glowing eyes staring at me from the recesses of the closet. But there have been pay tracks on the bed spread and some food/water/box action so I'm guessing she roams about when I'm not here.

And, if misery loves company, today my laptop stopped recognizing one of my memory slots and exhibiting every sign of KERNEL PANIC. It boots most of the time, but I'm in the process of trying to figure out what's wrong and how much it will cost me to get it fixed. On the agenda sometime in the next 24—reinstalling the OS (thank god I got a Mac and that's only a few clicks and does not involve reinstalling every other damn thing).

As for Texas, well, Nikki, at this point I say, if the creek don't rise, y'all got to get y'all's buttalks on that aeroplane and fly off to the Lone Star state. ;)

Geeze. Okay you have had three very sad events. You are done. Time for relaxation and things to go perfectly for you.

Jeez!!!! Hopefully, things will get better. And hopefully whatever is wrong is an easy fix.
