Unthinkable news & the Outback
May. 25th, 2003 04:40 pmKieran's dr. visit was uneventful, although it was nice to rule out a possible ear infection. He's grown 1.75" since last month, now 32.25" at 11 months. That's a total of 12.25" since he was born, and enough to send him off the growth charts. He's still pretty cranky from time to time, but the butt has finally settled down much to everyone's relief!
However, I am shocked & dismayed to report the unthinkable. My son is afraid of the cake that I had planned on having for his first birthday. I baked it as a trial run to make sure that I wouldn't wreck it with my latest track history of ruining cakes, and while it came out of the pan fine the frosting I was planning on using is way too soft for decorating. We tried everything possible to convince him it was ok both last night & this morning, but he would have none of it. I'll save the pan & hope for the best for his 2nd birthday and think of something that will still look cute but not as frightening!
My mom came down for a spur of the moment visit due to weekend scheduling conflicts ahead & to show off her new Subaru Outback. It was very weird to not have that instant familiar feeling when I looked out the window to see it instead of the old 85 Camry, but this is a far safer car so it's all good... just going to take some getting used to. She mentioned letting us borrow it for a road trip to CA late this summer which is even better!
