Today I finally got rid of the last lingering bit of guilt regarding the recent holiday season: finishing thank you notes.

I've always hated them because no matter what I come up with, it sounds so trite & stupid. Putting a pen to paper is another challenge these days as well. I can type much faster and be done with it, not to mention it's legible to everyone while the same cannot be said of my handwriting anymore. I love that most of my relatives are beside themselves with joy to receive an email thank you with a picture of Kieran opening up their presents attached... makes life so much easier.

That makes me wonder how I'll have Kieran do thank-yous when he's older. When he's little and can scribble of course I'll have him draw a picture & scrawl a few words, but when he's older & can type I'm pretty sure everyone who will be giving him things will be online. Miss Manners would probably cringe at the thought of an emailed thank you to begin with, and I'll still stick with paper cards for birthdays & the holiday mass mailing and formal occasion responses, but it's better than no acknowledgment at all, right?

I was so pleased with myself for doing the thank-yous that I promptly ordered jeans from Victoria's Secret that will actually fit (34" inseam) so I don't have to steal my husband's anymore. I still don't understand how I at 5'10" and my husband at 6'3" have the same inseam and I weigh slightly less than he does but he looks thinner, yet his jeans are extremely baggy on me. Go figure.

Girl! You crack me up. Guess I'm going to buy myself some new jeans once I ever finish all my thank you notes too!
