Patience wearing thin

So it's been over two weeks since I gouged myself and 5 days since the stitches were taken out, and supposedly I should be done with steri-strips and be well on the mend.

Nope. Not even close, since it still cracks open & bleeds every day when I change the bandage.

I'm not certain if this is due to the cut being across a joint, my meatless piano player fingers, horrible circulation in my hands that only gets worse in the winter, or a severe deficiency in whatever is needed for blood clotting & tissue regeneration.

It's one of those days at work where it's so slow that I could probably go home early and nobody would notice, so I've done a lot of research & will try some new strategies to get this to at least permanently close already. I can deal with the fact that 1/4 my finger is numb & another 1/4 is inappropriately painful (my guess is the nerves are still sorting things out) but bleeding & worrying about infection for this long is getting old really fast.

Stubborn as I am, I refuse to go back to the doctor unless infection pops up though. I'm pissed off at the one I saw because I keep finding references to hand/joint sutures needing to be in for 10-14 days, not 9. Grr.

The only thing I can think of is that when they're left in longer there's a great risk of scarring. Of course since it hasn't healed yet it will anyway, so who knows!
