Gothic children's song interpretation
Mar. 17th, 2004 02:52 pmA few days ago, as a belated anniversary present, I got Ryan the Join the Dots 4-CD Cure box set. Kieran immediately rocked out upon hearing the first track of the first disc (10:15 Saturday Night) & my old fogey heart nearly burst with pride at the sight of him happily bouncing his butt up & down in time (dripdripdripdripdripdrip...) since he can't jump yet.
This morning we started the third CD and the first song was 'This Twilight Garden'. I remember hearing the song years ago and thinking that I had to track down what single it was on so I could get it, promptly forgot the lyrics, then forgot about the song until now. I'm not sure if I'm temporarily infatuated or if this really is my favorite Cure song, time will tell :)
After a few listens, I got up off the couch and started dancing in my usual swoopy swirly goth style. No crinolines, corsets or club lighting with my beloved looking on while guarding my drink but charcoal sweats, Phantom of the Opera sweatshirt and dead-tv-channel-grey lighting through the bay window with my sweet baby eeriely looking on the same way his Daddy did at the Catwalk so very many years ago.
Then, he burst into his rendition of 'Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes' with a big smile.
I almost fell on my ass laughing. Poor Kieran must have thought Mommy had lost it with her weird swirly hand movements :)
