I'm not insane, it's genetic!
Aug. 16th, 2004 08:54 pmWell, actually I might be insane, but my weird food allergy is not.
I have always avoided green peppers like the plague, methodically picking them off pizza for as long as I can remember. I was repeatedly tormented by my mother to 'just eat them! you'll never know if you actually like them unless you try' but I wouldn't budge & she learned early to not force a Taurus/Ox to eat what she doesn't want to. I wasn't too thrilled with straight red peppers either, but have always loved salsa.
I finally tried green peppers one night in college as part of a fiery jambalaya, and my throat swelled enough to partially constrict my airway. Accidentally chomping down on a green pepper chunk snuck into sweet and sour pork in Chinese food produced a lesser reaction. Red peppers? Still no problem.
This never made sense to me, until tonight when I got an email back from my aunt. She asked about stuff that was ok for dinner when we visit and I told her about this... and she has the same problem with green peppers but not red.
2/3 of the way done with my paper, I have employed nearly every procrastination tactic available to me but must... finish... NOW!
