That's it, we're outta here

That was the subject line to my husband about this job opportunity. It is a very good thing I'm not about to graduate because this is intriguing to both of us. Apparently this utter crap of a winter has gotten to us both more than we thought since we both swear we'd never leave the area, but our families would probably kill us for taking their grandchild away.
Weill Cornell Medical College-Qatar, Distributed eLibrary has openings
for three (3) information services librarians. For a complete job
description please go to the following link:

Weill Cornell Medical College offers a highly competitive benefits
package: The minimum base salary will be approximately $50,000 U.S.
Included in the highly competitive benefits package is an additional 25%
of the base salary as a foreign-service benefit, bringing the total
minimum salary to approximate $62,500. Depending on experience and
qualifications, the base salary could be higher. Additionally, employees
will receive free housing (and very nice housing), an automobile
allowance, free tuition for children at any local private school
business class airline tickets are given for the employee and all
dependents to return once per year for home leave. In most cases, at
least one international educational leave trip is included in the
contract. For example, to go to MLA, IFLA, or whatever - anywhere in
the world. The first $82,000 of taxable salary is exempt from U.S.
Federal taxes. The institution will contribute 10% or 15% or 20% of
your base salary, depending on age and salary level, to TIAA/CREF or
Vanguard.
Doha and the tiny country of Qatar in general is a wonderful place to
live. It it a land of sun, beaches and, of course, sand dunes. There
is almost no crime in the country, people can travel freely anywhere
night and day without fear of danger. Doha is a very modern city but
maintains much of its original Middle Eastern charm, culture, and
architecture. The 2006 Asian Games were hosted here in December and
went off with great success. The city is currently in a major building
boom with dozens of skyscrapers under construction. The majority of
westerners living in Doha love it and do not want to leave. If you have
concerns because of what you hear about some areas of the Middle East,
rest assured that none of that happens here. In most ways it is far
safer here than in the U.S. or in most places for that matter.
Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.
One can dream, right? If two of my lifelong friends insist on living in China & England at least I can one up them by going someplace more exotic!
