It was two Fridays ago that I first set in motion the last point of this.

However, I was a complete idiot by forgetting who I work for. To offset my lowly salary, they have an arrangement for some deep discounts from a bank for mortgages. I thought it only applied to first time homebuyers and not refinancing, that is until we got an email today that reminded us of the program and mentioned refis.

The application process is now under way for a 4.75% 15-year refi with closing costs axed by a cool $1800. Thank God we haven't signed on the first one, we haven't even had a call for an appraisal yet. If we were approved to shell out more with a higher interest rate before, I see no reason why we'd be denied this one. We're out the cost of a credit report and probably some processing fees with the first refi loan application, but big deal considering how many thousands more we're going to save on top of what we were already.

We also got $61 worth of unexpected checks in the mail today. This is a goooood start to the month!
