Note (in the third paragraph) how the French helped debunk the supposed relics of Joan of Arc here.

I love this stuff!! There was recent entry either in the WSJ Health blog or one of the others I follow about defining what burnt human flesh smelled like that I found utterly fascinating too. When I began my studies, I was warned by someone that she had to get out of medical librarianship because the subject matters made her queasy. So far I've found I can read about and study anything (and believe me I've tested the limits and plan to continue), I just can't handle watching surgery videos without feeling nauseous for some reason.

My cousin's daughter is a nurse (graduated from UT's school of nursing last May) and she told me something about the (so-many number) of P's - phlegm, puke, p**s, p**p, and whatever that p-word is that refers to blood, and maybe some more - anyway, she said it's a nursing school truism that one of those will make a student queasy, but they can handle the others. So it looks like you are cut out for a medical (librarianship) career.

Oh! That might be it! I was just getting queasy HEARING all the P's named off! I think phlegm is the one that gets to my cousin's daughter.

I'm not a big fan of phlegm either.

My SIL has a child who had a colostomy bag as a baby, and she claims she can handle *anything* her kids throw at her but boogers and snot. I guess that would fall under a similar category?

LOL! She does (and thinks) a lot of things that to me are surreal.

I think phlebotomy is the blood word.
