Back in your homeland - this is the same bridge that collapsed in the earthquake in 1989, right?

I hate accidents like these. Many years ago (70s) in H-town, a chlorine tanker flew off the spaghetti bowl at the Southwest Freeway (US 59) and West Loop 610. The gas that was released blinded a friend of my mother's who volunteered to do an errand for my mom.

How awful for your mom's friend, your mom must have felt absolutely horrible :(

A top section of the Bay Bridge fell on a lower section but all the bridges were intact in the Bay Area. The Cypress viaduct that pancaked & only (should have been far more lethal at 5pm but everyone bailed early to watch the World Series) killed around 40 was considered part of the maze but it wasn't rebuilt in the same spot and this is a different part of it. Too many X80s to explain the structure and have it make sense :)
