This refi business is the strangest we've ever encountered. For some reason, it's taking an incredibly long time for the second one we've applied for to close, and now it looks like that time is to our advantage.

The second time, I was the one who found the better rate & reduced closing costs. On Friday, we received a FedEx from another bank with a competitive offer of an even lower rate and no closing costs paid by us. I've read & reread this thing 4 times, and there honestly doesn't seem to be a catch.

Even better, closing with this one is done entirely by mail so we don't have to worry about trying to find time off from work & dragging Kieran downtown to sign paperwork. We might be out the cost of the appraisal which was done on the second refi, but the savings & convenience are far more than worth it.

The weekend was great fun, we met up with another couple from Kennewick & their adorable little girl and played for a few hours at Kerry Park on Saturday. On Sunday, I surprised Ryan with brunch at the Space Needle for Father's Day. Kieran was amazingly well behaved for being at the table for an hour and a half, thanks to the entertainment value of shredding a piece of paper and downing Cheerios. I got all mushy remembering our wedding reception there (although with the remodel it barely looks like the same place) over 3 years ago & now coming back as a family. Bliss.

I have no idea why I can't sleep. I have cleared out some ancient piles of paperwork in the office though, if I'm going to have insomnia I might as well be productive about it.
