More refi & family ramblings
Jun. 19th, 2003 09:47 amWe finally heard back about the second refi yesterday afternoon, it was the escrow agent calling to say they anticipated getting the closing papers today & that we'd have to sign them by the 22nd. I was supposed to hear back from the bank last week about closing dates, and still no word from them. I'm even more glad that we went with the 3rd refi-by-mail because there's no way we can get the time off work with this short notice (FYE combined with biennium budget closing crap) and if they're open on weekends that's out too between an important visit & Kieran's party.
My grandma's best friends are the important visit. We haven't seen them in a few years, so this obviously will be their first time meeting Kieran. I cried once I hung up talking with them, because I realized that they are the only representatives of the older generation from my side of the family that Kieran is likely to meet, unless Kieran's 98 (or maybe 99) year old great-great-great-uncle can handle a visit in August when we go to CA.
It was reassuring in an odd sort of way to hear how happy they were at learning about how we're raising Kieran by Ryan & I both working part time and flexing our schedules around each other so we don't have him in daycare, and still have lots of family time together at night. I'd like to hope that my grandparents would be proud of me, I swear I catch glimpses of all of them in Kieran from time to time.
