Where'd my baby go?

In looking at pictures from his first birthday party, I keep seeing a little boy instead of a baby. This is only a prelude, my boy did his cake-loving heritage proud by eventually smashing it to the same height as his highchair tray

This has been the best & worst weekend I've had in a long time. It's very rare that I can go from literally shaking with rage to beaming with joy and finding a constant peace somewhere in between for the better part of three days. God willing, all the anger & negativity are now far, far behind us with only a healthy dose of dysfunctionality ahead.

We have shots of Galen at his first birthday. His cake was cherry-chocolate, with red icing, so it looked like he'd bitten a great bloody chunk out of the haunches of some beast.
It was awesome.
Looked kind of like Keiran in this picture, actually.

Gotta love how red food coloring allows for the inner primal carnivore look for our boys :)
