It finally happened. My sweet baby said the f-word this morning. His daddy tried to claim he was saying farm, fun or even fart but I know better & who is to blame for this one.

Let's just hope Kieran doesn't try out his new vocabulary word when Grandma comes to visit this weekend, we had our work cut out for us earlier getting rid of the s-word a month ago!

On the plus side of language development, he's counting everything possible up to ten. He would say '1,2,3' etc. around his second birthday a few weeks ago, but the transition to those numbers actually representing quantity is definitely in place now. I'm sure by 6th grade he'll be teaching me math at this rate.

So, would it be ill advised, then, to explain that it isn't a nice word, and that mommy and daddy really shouldn't say it either?

If he was a bit older & more adept at language use, that strategy would work. We've found that positive reinforcement of vocabulary we do want him to have works wonders for now. The concept of 'nice' is still a bit vague, but he's getting better in regards to the cats :)
